Nintendo — GameCube
My personal Nintendo GameCube (DOL-001) spice orange. Started life with a PicoBoot and later upgraded to a FlippyDrive. The optical drive also got fresh caps as part of a GameCube maintenance day.
PicoBoot IPL replacement (initial install)
PicoBoot by webhdx, a Raspberry Pi Pico-based IPL replacement for the Nintendo GameCube. Later replaced in this unit by a FlippyDrive.
FlippyDrive optical drive emulator (current)
FlippyDrive by Team Off Broadway, an SD-card-based optical drive emulator for the Nintendo GameCube.
NTSC-J orange spice Gamecube with picoboot installed. Thanks for the awesome firmware @webhdx and thanks for the great video @machonachomedia. #RETROGAMING #GameCube #Nintendo #consolemodding
(1/5) Gamecube maintenance day. Replacing the caps on the optical drive PCBs. Started 4/5 drives dead, now 5/5 work. Huge success! Thanks @leonkiriliuk, I think it was in one of his posts that I read that the laser isn't usually the issue, it's the caps. #RETROGAMING #restoration
(4/5) This one was already recapped but wasn't working, it was missing a resistor. I must have knocked it off when doing the recap at an earlier date. #RETROGAMING #TheLegendOfZelda #CRT
(5/5) One big happy family. All of them now have working drives! #RETROGAMING #Nintendo #gamecube #restoration #repair
On the menu today, my personal favourite, the orange spice GameCube. Threw in a bit of RE4 for testing. #RETROGAMING #Nintendo #GameCube #ResidentEvil4
Finally, after a very long wait, my flippydrive units have arrived! One for my spice orange GameCube and one for my Panasonic Q. #RETROGAMING #Nintendo #GameCube #flippydrive
1/2 That was a pretty easy and quick installation process, even with having to remove my previously installed picoboot. #RETROGAMING #Nintendo #GameCube
2/2 Just testing a couple of games. Ran into an issue with game/console region when trying to boot games but firmware update sorted that. This is a really cool ODE! @TeamOffBroadway @ChrisPVille @trevorrudolph
