This site is a personal hobby blog about restoring old consoles, CRT monitors and TVs, and similar electronics. Reading it does not create any kind of professional relationship between us. The content is published for interest and entertainment, not as professional repair advice.

Safety warning

Working on consumer electronics, especially CRT monitors and televisions, can kill you.

In particular:

  • A CRT's anode can hold a charge of 20 to 30 kilovolts for hours or days after the unit is unplugged. Touching it without proper discharge can cause serious injury or death.
  • Mains-voltage circuits, capacitors in switching power supplies, and large electrolytic capacitors store enough energy to stop a heart even when no power is applied.
  • Lead solder, fluxes, isopropyl alcohol, and various cleaning chemicals are hazardous. Use appropriate ventilation and protection.

If you are not trained, equipped, and confident to work on this kind of equipment safely, do not attempt anything you read about here. Take the unit to a qualified technician.

AI training

The site's robots.txt currently allows AI training and answer-engine crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, CCBot, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended) to access public content. The intent is to surface repair information in AI-assisted search and answer tools where it is useful. If that posture changes in future, the updated robots.txt and a note here will reflect it.
