(1/2) New arrival from Japan. A 6" PVM to add to my collection and some VGA to BNC cables that @misirajeduart.bsky.social brought to my attention. Now I have 8 cables so, 1 for each of the inputs on my Extron MVX. Does the monitor work? Find out below. #CRT #Sony #PVM

(2/2) Initially, only got sound, no picture. An issue with one of my SCART to BNC cables. Then I got a rolling picture, just a matter of adjusting the vertical hold knob on the back. The monitor works fine, just needs some TLC. Quality looks nice. #RETROGAMING #Castlevania #Sega

(1/7) A maintenance thread on my recently acquired Sony PVM-6041Q. As you can see, it's pretty dirty on the inside so besides refurbishing the PSU and neck board, I'll give it a general clean up. #Sony #PVM #CRT #restoration

(2/7) Started by taking out the PSU to clean up the casing, replace the old capacitors and reflow the solder joints.

3 / 7

(3/7) As can be seen the solder on the neck board was dull looking. Closer inspection revealed that at the very least, the G1 pin joint was breaking. I reflowed the joints and replaced the single electrolytic capacitor on the board.

(4/7) Here are some shots of it after some cleaning and reassembly.

(5/7) At this point in time I went to test it and it would not power on, much to my dismay. After swapping it with the PSU on one of my 9" PVMs it worked fine and so did the 9" PVM with this PSU so, long story short, I got trolled by some connector that I ended up reseating.

(6/7) Finally, what were here for, some testing with RGB on the #Sega Nomad, playing Rocket Knight Adventures. #RETROGAMING

(7/7) To round off testing, some shots taken while playing Columns on the Wondermega using composite. #RETROGAMING #Columns
