Sony — PVM-14M4J
This PVM had the common retrace lines issue and arrived with one colour completely missing. I made a mistake along the way but got there in the end.
New @Buyee arrival, well packed, no damage. Sony PVM-14M4J 800 line tube. Red tinge is due to the crap amazon cable I'm using to loop the image between the PVMs for testing. 37€ so far seems like a good deal. Xeno crisis from @BitmapBureau used. More pics below #CRT #RETROGAMING
@usa_retro Do you reckon this just needs a cap kit to fix the retrace lines? The tube seems otherwise fine to me. Although I didn't play for too long on it just for safety.

Opened it up and looked at schematics and block diagrams for the C board. Poked and proded around with my multimeter in hopes of finding something wrong along the blue path. After a while it turned out I should have started simple. KB pin of the tube had a broken solder joint.
Tested it after reflowing all the pin connections for the tube and voilà. Nice colour bars, blue is back. Now it needs the cap kit to fix the retrace lines and it'll be back to it's full glory. 37€ well spent. 😌 Thanks @usa_retro for all the videos. #RETROGAMING #Castlevania

All of the joints on the C board looked bad so reflowed those. Looked around bottom side of the A board reflowed most the things here as well. Took me most of the day and killed my back and neck in the process. Dots marks on top of replaced caps.
Reassembly, application of dielectric grease to the anode cap and testing. Fixed retrace lines but sadly I introduced some issue which broke sync on all inputs and modes. Regardless, I'd still like to thank @usa_retro for all his videos they helped me to work on this safely.
Finally the saga of my PVM-14M4J had come to and end. As expected the rolling sync issue was related to an unintentional solder bridge when reflowing the main board. I think it now deserved to have the red dot removed. 😁 #RETROGAMING #CRT #repair #Nintendo
