Two spare GameCube drives recapped. One came back to life, one didn't. The dead one reads 30 ohms on the motor where the working one is OL, which might point to a dead motor.
After receiving a shipment from Mouser with some fresh SMD electrolitics, I recapped the two spare Gamecube optical drives I have laying around. Also restored the previously stolen resistor. What do you guys reckon? Were they fixed? See below 👇 #RETROGAMING #Nintendo #gamecube
This time, the recap fixed one and didn't help the other. The one I had stolen the resistor from, it moves the laser but the disc does not begin to spin. I measured the motor with multimeter, it comes out at 30 ohms, while the one that works reads as OL (open line). Dead motor?
