HDMI ports on the family LG TV failing one after the other, most likely years of cable weight stressing the joints. Both were desoldered and replaced with OEM parts, an intimidating job at the time. The parts were pricey and scarce enough that the repair was not really economical, so a complete board from a compatible but cheaper model was tracked down afterwards and kept as a spare.
In late 2020, the HDMI ports on the LG TV at my parents' house started to fail, first one, then the other. Probably stress from the weight of the cable over so many years. Removing and replacing the old ones, back then, was still an intimidating job for me but I did manage it.
Mind you, this wasn't actually an economical repair, the OEM parts were kind of pricey and hard to come by. In fact, I managed to track down a complete replacement board, from a compatible model that was cheaper, so I got it for spares, just in case... Planning for a rainy day. 😄
